Bathinda, January 27

Members of PWD Field and Workshop Workers’ Union staged a protest and raised slogans against the state government, demanding pending salaries and clearance of ESI and EPF dues in the city on Monday.

The protesters raised slogans against senior officials of sewerage board under the leadership of district president of the union Rajkumar.

Addressing the gathering, the president of the union said, “We have been bringing our long-standing demands to the notice of the sewerage board officials but the latter keep stalling the matter. Our main demand is that of regularisation and release of pending salaries for December last year.”

“We also demand that authorities must ensure clearance of EPF and ESI dues for workers and there must not be any pendency with regard to release of workers’ hard-earned money. There also must be an arrangement of at least one room for the STP installed at Goniana block,” said Rajkumar.

The protesting members also alleged that outstanding amounts haven’t been paid to several workers and the demand for the same was raised at numerous occasions but to no avail.
