Employee of Post office booked

Malout: The Malout (Sadar) police have booked an employee of the Postal Department, presently posted at Malout village, for allegedly embezzling Rs78,875. A complaint was lodged to the police by Sunil Kumar, Superintendent of the Faridkot Post Office. The complainant alleged that Jagjit Kaur caused temporary financial loss of Rs78,875 to the department. A case under section 409 of the IPC has been registered in this regard. TNS

Farmers demand compensation

Muktsar: Some farmers’ organisations on Friday held meetings in the town and demanded compensation for losses due to pest attack on the recently-sown wheat crop. Farmers said those who had sown wheat crop without burning the paddy straw were the worst affected. They said the state government should devise a plan to deal with the menace of stray cattle. They also appealed farmers to reach Bathinda on December 16 to take part in a protest there. TNS

Khushi shines in essay contest

Bathinda: Khushi, a student of Class 10th of St Kabir Convent School, has brought laurel to the school by getting second position in the All India Plastic Manufacturers Association- 3rd National Essay Competition. Managing Director Prof ML Arora and Principal Anju Dogra congratulated Khushi on her achievement and wished her luck for future competitions. TNS
