Central University of Punjab’s lectures make cut in global ranking

Minister appreciates efforts put in by professors

In a tweet, the Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, appreciated the faculty of the Central University of Punjab as modules offered by the university as a part of massive open online courses (MOOCs) under the Swayam programme ranked among world’s top 10 outstanding online courses for 2020.

The ranking was released by legalmooc.law recently. In the ranking, the lecture on topic, ‘Solid and hazardous waste management programme’ offered by Prof VK Garg, dean of the School of Environment and Earth Sciences, and another on topic, ‘Biostatistics and mathematical biology programme’ offered by Dr Felix Bast, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, bagged sixth and seventh spot, respectively.

Professor RK Kohli, Vice-Chancellor of the university, congratulated the faculty members on their achievement. He said the university would create exclusive content for other online courses through the Swayam programme.

Prof VK Garg and Dr Felix Bast expressed gratitude towards the ministry, the UGC and university authorities for recognising their works.
