Bathinda, March 28

A police party was attacked by shopkeepers at Kotli Khurd village in the district, when they had gone to close the shop on Friday.

In a complaint lodged by SI Balbir Singh at Maur police station, he said he, along with the police team, was patrolling near the bus stand in Kotli Khurd village and got a tip-off around 8 pm that the accused, Raju Singh, has opened his shop without getting any permission and was even allowing people to assemble in crowd.

When the police reached, other accused including Mithu Singh, Satnam Singh, Harpreet Singh, Gobind Singh and Iqbal Singh were also present. When they told them to close the shop, they tore the cops’ uniform. They said they had no fear of corona and started pelting stones towards them. In another case, the police nabbed a 38-year-old Balkaur Singh of Faridkot Kotli village for violating the DM’s orders by roaming freely in the area. SI Surjit Singh said on March 27, he, along with a police party, was present at Chak Atar Singh wala bus stand and were checking suspicious persons, during which Balkaur came and after seeing the police tried to escape, but he was nabbed.
