Aspects of changing learning techniques discussed at college

A four-day faculty development programme concluded at Multani Mal Modi College here today.

The programme, organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college, was based on the theme “Higher education: Digital Learning and Changing Landscapes of Modern Class-Rooms’ to initiate the dialogue about the latest learning techniques, knowledge retention methods and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education.

College Principal Dr Khushvinder Kumar demonstrated how teachers should engage critically and intellectually with skills such as critical thinking, creativity, scientific temper, multilingualism, problem solving, ethics, social responsibility and digital literacy. He emphasised on the need for the juxtaposition of conventional philosophy of learning with the latest technology to make education society-friendly.

During the four-day programme, resource persons from various universities discussed and debated different aspects and perspectives of the changing learning techniques.

Dr RS Singh, Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Punjabi University, Patiala, discussed ‘genetically modified foods’ and how they are changing the food chains of our eco-systems.

During the programme, the faculty learned different digital resources, their usages, multimedia techniques and methods of digitalised knowledge production.

Dr Ajit Kumar, Registrar, Dr Ganesh Sethi, Dr Vinay Garg and Dr Harmohan Sharma discussed with the college faculty members about various digital platforms and digital resources for research and teaching purpose.
