Artist to showcase works at ‘Nostalgia’

Suman Gupta, an internationally known realist artist of the UT, has been invited to showcase his latest works based on technique of tempera and dry brush in a group show in New Delhi.

A two-month long show titled ‘Nostalgia’ is being organised by Gallery Nvya in Gallerie Nvya Art Walk at Indira Gandhi International Airport in which some of the main-stream artists from all over India will be showcasing theirworks. The show will remain open till the end of February.

Suman Gupta has been working in the ancient technique of egg tempera and dry brush for the past three decades and has produced hundreds of works which has gone into the collection of some of the top connoisseurs both in India and abroad.

His subjects mostly consist of elements taken from nature, human dwellers in his immediate surroundings, the annual migration of nomadic groups from the highland region of Shivalik hills to the plains in the start of winter, etc.

His portrayal of these subjects is compelling and beautiful. His deftness brings attention to these simple forms, encouraging the viewer to re-examine the presence of these objects in these specially created sensitive work in magic realism. Some of his finest works produced in tempera and dry brush will be on display at the gallery.
