The new plastic straw ban has managed to stir an unexpected consequence when a man had lashed out on a McDonald’s employee on Monday evening.

The man from Florida had placed an order in St. Petersburg, Florida, when he become upset about the condiment station running out of plastic straws said witness Brenda Biandudi.

He walked back to the counter and got into an argument with an employee about plastic straws.

The video shows the man is reaching over the counter and grabbing the employee.

The man was identified as Daniel Taylor, 40-year-old homeless man. He was arrested for two charges of simple battery.

There were no weapons found on him. He was also under the influence of alcohol.

Daniel’s lawyer could not be reached on Wednesday.  Taylor said the employees weren't doing their jobs.

"She told him we're not allowed to have (straws) in the lobby but he can get one upon request. He said there was no such law. He started exchanging words laced with profanity, which I won't repeat," Biandudi, 62, said.

“I looked at my camera and I thought I may need to record this since there were so few people in the store. As soon as he approached her, I hit record. He reached across and tried to grab her and hit her," she said.

A city ordinance went into effect on January 1 that requires customers to ask for straws.
