Bangkok: Sewing machines whir in a Bangkok convent as workers feverishly finish silk robes in brilliant golds and reds, made especially for Pope Francis and his entourage visiting Thailand this month. The whirlwind November 20-23 trip will see the head of the Catholic Church meet top officials, host masses and visit the Catholic faithful in the Buddhist-majority country. Seamstresses at the Praharuthai Convent in Bangkok are working hard ahead of the trip to ensure Pope Francis and his bishops, deacons and priests are decked out in the country's finest threads.  AFP

Turkey begins to deport foreign jihadists

istanbul: Turkey said Monday it had begun sending back foreign jihadists to their countries of origin, with an American already expelled and more than 20 Europeans in the process of deportation. A "foreign terrorist fighter" from the US was deported early on Monday, with two more - from Germany and Denmark - due to be expelled later in the day, interior ministry spokesman Ismail Catakli told state news agency Anadolu. Seven more Germans were due for deportation on Thursday. AFP

‘Jealous’ of Hrithik Roshan, man kills wife, himself in US

New York: A man who stabbed his wife to death and hung himself from a tree was “insanely jealous” of his wife’s fascination with Hrithik Roshan, media reports cited her friends as saying. Dineshwar Budhidat (33) flew “into fits of rage” before the tragedy on Friday over Donne Dojoy (27) liking the actor, her friends told the New York Post. IANS
