Dhaka: A 22-year-old Bangladeshi woman trainee pilot was killed and her trainer injured on Wednesday when their trainer aircraft caught fire on a runway here. Tamanna Ferdous Rahman, 22, died as the Cessna D152 trainer crashed within the periphery of the Rajshahi Shah Makhdum Airport soon after it took off. The critically wounded trainer, former army lieutenant colonel Sayeed Kamal, was rescued by officials. PTI

Singapore: An Indian-origin nurse here will receive an international achievement award for her work in the healthcare sector of women and refugees. Dr Subadhra Devi Rai, a nurse and a senior lecturer at the School of Health Sciences (Nursing) at Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore, will be bestowed by this year's International Achievement Award by the Florence Nightingale International Foundation. 37 dead in bombing of dairy in west Yemen
Sanaa: At least 37 workers were killed when a dairy in western Yemen was bombed overnight, an official said on Wednesday after a seventh night of Saudi-led air strikes against Shia rebels. Eighty others were wounded at the plant in Hodeida, provincial governor Hasan al-Hai said, without specifying whether the factory was hit by an air strike or rebel shelling. AFP
