George HW Bush admitted to hospital

Austin: Former US President George HW Bush was admitted to a Houston hospital on Sunday after contracting an infection that spread to his blood, a family spokesman said on Monday. Bush, 93, was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital a day after a funeral was held for his wife, Barbara Bush. “He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering,” he said. Oz boy runs away to Bali using credit card

Sydney: Australian police were on Tuesday investigating how a 12-year-old boy managed to fly alone to Indonesian island of Bali and spend four days at a resort using his parents’ credit card. The boy ran away from his Sydney home after a row with his mother, flying first to Perth and then on to Bali. He checked into a hotel, hired a scooter and drank beer before a friend alerted his mother. The holiday cost his parents $6,100. AFP

Giant mosquito found in China 

Beijing: A Chinese entomologist has found a “horrendous” looking giant mosquito with a wingspan of 11.15 cm in China’s Sichuan province. Zhao Li, curator of the Insect Museum of West China, said the mosquito, which belongs to the world’s largest mosquito species Holorusia mikado, was found in August last year during a field trip to Mount Qingcheng in Chengdu. “These mosquitoes look horrendous, but do not feed on blood. The adults have a life span of only a few days and mainly feed on nectar,” he said. PTI
