New York: Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has surpassed Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates to become the world’s richest man on Thursday. Bezos’ worth rose to $90.7bn (£69bn) following a 2.4% rise in Amazon shares on Thursday, eclipsing Gates’ wealth by $700m. According to Forbes, 53-year-old Bezos is the owner of about 17% of the shares in Amazon, their value now exceeding $500bn. Amazon’s sales jumped 23% to $35.7bn for the first three months of this year. The company expects a rise of 16% to 24% for the quarter to June. Agencies
