San Francisco: Amazon installed bulletproof panels at the Seattle office of its founder and CEO Jeff Bezos -- designed to withstand multiple shots from a military assault rifle, the media reported. According to a report in The Daily Beast on Tuesday, the bulletproof project to safeguard Bezos, who has a net worth of $120 billion, cost Amazon $180,000. Although the cost is less, "it demonstrates the lengths Bezos is willing to go to guard against real or perceived threats as his public profile grows," the report said.  IANS

San Francisco:  Facebook Dating app would now help users explore potential romantic relationships within their own extended circle of friends. The new feature is called "Secret Crush" where the users can select up to nine Facebook friends who they want to express interest in.  "If your crush has opted into Facebook Dating, they will get a notification saying that someone has a crush on them. If your crush adds you to their Secret Crush list, it's a match!" the social media giant announced during its annual 'F8' conference in San Jose, California on Tuesday. IANS

Plasma-spewing black hole dragging spacetime 

Melbourne: Astronomers have discovered a black hole, almost 8,000 light-years from Earth, pumping rapidly swinging plasma jets into the surrounding universe at a speed so fast that it is dragging spacetime. The research, published in the journal Nature, shows jets from V404 Cygni's black hole behaving in a way never seen before on such short timescales. The jets appear to be rapidly rotating with high-speed clouds of plasma -- potentially just minutes apart -- shooting out of the black hole in different directions. PTI
