5 injured as 5.2-magnitude quake jolts Iran

TEHRAN: An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit Choram region of Iran’s Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province on Monday, Iran’s Seismological Centre said.

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit Choram region of Iran’s Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province on Monday, Iran’s Seismological Centre said.

The epicentre of the quake was reported to be at a depth of 10 km, 50.790 degrees east longitude and 30.594 degrees north latitude, Xinhua news agency reported.

The earthquake was felt in the northern cities of Iran’s Khuzestan Province.

According to local media reports, no report of fatalities is available till now, but five people were injured.

In rural areas, houses have sustained damage.

Iran’s Red Crescent Society has dispatched teams of evaluators to the region.

Also, rescuers were at the site of the earthquake to help the affected people. IANS
