Yekaterinburg: Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill led some 1,00,000 people in a nightime procession marking 100 years since the Bolsheviks shot dead tsar Nicholas II and his family after he abdicated. The powerful church leader led the procession that began from the murder site to a monastery commemorating the victims outside the city of Yekaterinburg just east of the Ural mountains. The monastery was built to honour the site where the burnt bodies of the last Russian tsar and his family were thrown after their execution in the aftermath of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. AFP

Yvonne Blake, ‘Superman’ costume designer, dead

Los Angeles: Yvonne Blake, the costume designer behind films, including 1978 box-office hit “Superman” and 1973’s “Jesus Christ Superstar”, has died. She was 78. The British-born Spanish designer had suffered a stroke earlier this year, according to The Spanish Film Academy. She won an Oscar for Best Costume Design for Franklin J Shaffner’s period drama “Nicholas and Alexandra” in 1971. PTI

Tesla shares dip after CEO Musk abuses British caver

San Francisco: Shares of Tesla Inc fell over 3.5 per cent on Monday after Chief Executive Elon Musk directed abuse on Twitter at one of the British cavers involved in the rescue of 12 Thai children last week. A number of analysts and investors said Musk’s comments were adding to their concerns that his public statements were distracting him from Tesla’s main business of producing electric cars. The stock sell-off knocked almost $2 billion off the company’s market value. Reuters
