Heat wave claims two lives

Two unidentified commuters on Monday died at platform-1 of the railway station in Sriganganagar possibly due to heat wave. The Weather Department confirmed that minimum temperature had shot up to 21.6°C and maximum to 44°C. Government Railway Police station incharge Neha Rajpurohit said the deceased carried no ID proof, adding that the bodies were shifted to the mortuary in the district hospital. OC

Youth held with drugs

The Border Security Force and Sriganganagar police on Monday seized 35,000 habit-forming tablets from a youth who alighted from a bus at Chak 6P village, few meters away from the International Border. Investigation officer Vijay Meena said Luxman Jat, a resident of Khinvsar village of Jaisalmer district, carried a huge bag and its search led to the big seizure. Preliminary interrogation indicated that he was hired to supply the consignment to someone in the border village by Luxman Chaudhary, who reportedly handed over the bag to him near a temple in Jodhpur. Kin booked for killing man

A woman and her son have been booked for allegedly beating her 75-year-old husband to death at Roopnagar colony in Hanumangarh on Sunday. The police have registered a case under Sections 302/34 of the IPC on the statement of Rahul Kumar against Kusum, wife of deceased Sohan Lal Saini, and son Mukesh. OC
