The Ravi road bridge

Show comments

THE inauguration of a great work of public utility like the Ravi road bridge is an occasion of sincere and heartfelt congratulation to both the Government and the people, and it was entirely in keeping with the momentous character of the occasion that the His Honour Sir Micheal O’Dwyer presided over Tuesday’s opening ceremony at the Ravi. The Hon’ble Colonel Maclagan, Chief Engineer, Buildings and Roads Branch, gave an interesting report of the history of the construction, the difficulties owing to an abnormal monsoon flood level, and the good work done by Mr. Macfarlane and his colleagues, executive engineers in charge of the bridge. His Honour is reply made an eloquent and impressive speech, which was listened to with rapt attention by the large assembly, and will be read with the great interest by a wider public.
