The Manali murder

Show comments

EARLY in November last attention was called in these columns to the failure of the Kulu police to unearth the circumstances connected with the murder of one Shere Ali at Manali. A suggestion was also made by us that in view of the importance attaching to the case the Local Government might depute a special officer to investigate the crime. What further action was taken either by the District Officers or by the Punjab Government has not yet transpired. But the author or authors of the foul dead are still at large. What seems incredible, the murdered man's wife is also reported to have been murdered. The version of the Kullu police is that the woman has "disappeared." It is difficult to say what is meant by the "disappearance" of the wife when the murderer of the husband is still at large.
