Temperance Work in Chamba State.

Show comments

A PARTY of Amrtisar and Pathankot workers, headed by such veteran workers as Lala Nand Lal and Miss Campbell recently visited the Chamba State for temperance work. It is deeply gratifying to learn that His Highness the Raja took a lively interest in the work and graced the meeting in the Chaugan with his presence. His Highness expressed great regret at the condition of the low classes, especially the Chamars who were going downward owing to their hard drinking and squandering their hard-earned wages on drink. The Raja Sahib promised to consider the request to prohibit juvenile smoking.
