TELENGANA STATE RULED OUT

NEW DELHI, June 16 (PTI)—The Executive of the Congress Parliamentary Party, which met here today, was of the view that there was no question of creating a separate Telengana State and that the Centre should stand by Mr. Brahmananda Reddy in dealing with the current law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh. The Executive is understood to have been of the view that there was no constitutional crisis and hence the demand for President’s Rule was totally misplaced. There was also no need for the Chief Minister to resign as long as he enjoyed majority in the State Legislature. Most of those who participated in the two-hour discussion were highly critical of the party’s leadership, specially at the Centre. While the Telengana movement went on gaining momentum, the leadership acted as a “silent spectator”. Even after the formation of the Telengana Pradesh Congress Committee, the leadership did not take a serious note of the situation, members felt.
