Show comments

SARDAR Daljit Singh, Indian member of the Secretary of State's Council, gave a lecture on the 29th June at the Royal Society of Arts on "The Sikhs, their Religion and Political History". As might have been expected there was a large and distinguished gathering and Mr. Chamberlain presided. The lecturer was introduced to the audience by the president and his interesting account of the Sikhs, their religious beliefs and civilisation was listened to with rapt attention. The British public knew very well the Sikh bravery and loyalty. Their fighting qualities are now world-famed. The religion and civilization of such a people was, therefore, a subject of the utmost interest to the people. Mr. Chamberlain himself in his speech paid an eloquent tribute to the fighting qualities of the Sikhs.
