Sir Subramania Iyer''s Appeal for Funds

Show comments

MOST people outside of Madras are not probably aware why Sir S. Subramania Iyer has appealed for fund on behalf of Mrs Besant, for the telegraphic summary of his letter to the press makes no mention of this fact. In consequences of the internment Mrs. Besant is, writes Sir Subramania Iyer, deprived of the only source of income she had till now, viz., the sale of her writings in future. She had been advised that any sale whatsoever of the publications already in stock will be contravention of the order and render her liable to prosecution and imprisonment to a term of three years with fine, and consequently there will be no sale of any of them and thus she will be left without the means of her maintenance.
