Plague in Multan

Show comments

WE understand that for some time past plague cases have shown an appreciable decrease in Multan. In view of the likelihood of the early return of those who had vacated their houses in the town to live in the open outside, a meeting was recently held in the Town Hall to arrange for disinfection of the whole city. In compliance with a request made to him Dr. Diwan Ali, Civil Surgeon, has issued a set of instructions on the subject of the disinfection of clothes, grain and other property, and the heating of rooms. Fuel necessary for disinfection will have to be provided by house-owners, except in the case of poor and deserving people when the Committee will pay it. We trust the Committee will be as liberal as possible in the matter. It is of the utmost importance that the people should be encouraged as much as possible to resort to sanitary measures, and that all the towns, which have infected should, as soon as plague dies, be thoroughly disinfected and rendered immune.
