IN recognition of the excellent and meritorious work done by Lala Hukam Chand, officiating Municipal Committee decided sometime ago that he should be given a salary of Rs. 800 per mensem the minimum pay of the office during his predecessor Mr. Longdin's time. During the period he has been Municipal Engineer, Lala Hukam Chand has by common consent displayed remarkable energy and activity and served the interests of the ratepayers in a variety of ways. The repairs and remodelling of the market has been carried out at a cost of nearly Rs. 35,000, thus saving the municipal coffers a sum of rupees 1 lakh from the sanctioned expenditure.
