LOT OF GOODWILL FOR INDIA

Show comments

NEW DELHI, July 26 (PTI) THE Finance Minister Mr. Sachin Chaudhuri, told the Lok Sabha today that there was a great fund of goodwill for India and a willingness to understand "our difficulties and problems" in the five West European countries-the United Kingdom, West Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands-which he visited recently. Mr. Chaudhuri said that there was appreciation of India's general economic policy of the measures she had taken to promote growth with stability and in particular the liberalisation of imports. These countries were also conscious that as a developing country India was well ahead of most others. In all the places, he was given a warm reception and the talks were marked by a spirit of mutual understanding and co-operation. He said Britain, France, the Netherlands, and Italy had agreed to give $132.8 million of mostly non-project assistance. The West German Government had already given 10 million dollars aid.
