Lala Lajpat Rai''s Latest Book.

Show comments

WE welcome the publication of the great patriot's latest book, The United States of America. It is a sumptuous volume of 420 pages, beautifully illustrated and elegantly done up. Deferring to a future issue our review of this highly interesting publication, as we ought to, to estimate its worth properly, we must state that it is one of the most valuable works ever written by an Indian. In his preface, which was written on 25th March, 1916, Lala Lajpat Rai explains that his present visit to the United States is the second one, his first visit having been made in 1905. This time he has travelled widely throughout the country, and it is needless to mention he has found the trip "extremely interesting as well as instructive." Notwithstanding the undoubted grandeur of the sights he has witnessed and the inexpressible marvel of its achievements, Lala Lajpat Rai is not giving us in his books any of his description.
