NEW DELHI, May 14 (PTI, UNI)—The PM, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, told the Lok Sabha today that India’s policy not to use atomic energy for war purposes remained unaltered. Replying to questions, she said it was true that some countries that had signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty would like India to do the same but no specific suggestion for such a step had been made. Mr. Hem Barua asked whether the Government’s policy not to go in for nuclear weapons was conditioned by the fact that the Canadian Government, which helped India to erect the “Apsara” reactor in Bombay, categorically asked India not to make such weapons. She said such a consideration did not govern India’s policy.
