THE Calcutta University has made a move in the direction of taking up the question of higher commercial studies in the University. At a meeting of the Senate of the University held on Saturday last, a committee of seven Fellows was appointed on the motion of the Hon’ble Dr. Nilratan Sircar “to consider the feasibility of the University taking steps to develop the teaching of the higher branches of commercial studies in the Universities and if found feasible to prepare a scheme.” Sir Gurudas Bannerji moved an amendment to add agricultural and technological studies in the motion. This was agreed to and the following gentlemen were elected to form the committee:-Sir Gurudas Bannerji, President, Professor Williams, Dr. Brojendranath Seal, the Hon. the Vice-Chancellor and the Hon. Dr. Nilratan Sircar.
