Foiling the raiding bands

Show comments

TWO notable instances of foiling large bands of border miscreants are to hand, pointing in an unmistakable manner to the wisdom of arming on a large scale the respectable residents of villages, especially the Hindus who, in most these raids, offer a target to the marauding bands. On 21st January at about midnight 30 armed dacoits raided village Kaisrani, in the Dera Ghazi Khan district, situated from the headquarters at a distance of 20 miles or so. The raiders had looted three houses and entered the fourth, when another Sahukar, Lala Rushan Lal with two relatives and a servant, each with a gun, took their position behind a barricade, and awaited the advance of the raiders. The latter at last came on their way to Lala Raushan Lal's own house, when Lala Raushan Lal and his two relatives fired their guns, killing one of the dacoits on the spot and seriously wounding two others.
