Englishmen of Military Age in India.

In  the course of a leading article a Calcutta Anglo-Indian paper says that there are many Englishmen of military age in India and it is their duty to offer their services to the war. "The great offensive movement began in the west," writes our contemporary, "needs every man procurable if it is to be continued to a triumphant success… Are there no slackers among us? Emphatically there are still in this country many men who could be spared from their civil occupation, and it is the bounden duty of the Government to count the eligibles out of India." Our contemporary further says that it is possible to allow necessary number of men for purpose of trade and civil service and yet send a large contingent.
