CONSIDERATION OF VIOLENCE

Show comments

TO THE EDITOR, Tribune: “SIR, to the appeal made by the Governor-General in Council in the Home Department Resolution published in your columns to-day, it should be easy for all right-minded Indians to respond. We cannot condemn too strongly the violence into which the agitation against the Rowlatt Act has developed, and deplore the serious consequences in the shape of loss of life and property which this violence has entailed. The fair name of India, whose people are, alike by the emphatic teachings of their religion and their national character, law abiding and peace-loving, has come perilously near being tarnished with the taint of violence and bloodshed.”
