Conscience clause and vaccination

WE learn from letters received from Sind that the number of conscientious objectors to vaccination is growing and that these objectors are determined to resist compulsion at all cost.

WE learn from letters received from Sind that the number of conscientious objectors to vaccination is growing and that these objectors are determined to resist compulsion at all cost. It is a pity that the Bombay Government should have failed to avail themselves of the opportunity that was lately afforded by one of these objectors to exempt such persons. The best arguments in favour of vaccination is the tangible proof of immunity form small-pox; and if a few persons object notwithstanding this proof and are not likely to endanger their neighbours there can be no valid objection to exempt them form vaccination. We fail to see any wisdom in refusing exemption and forcing people to agitate the matter.
