Arab Independence

THE great European war is being waged to secure the freedom and integrity of weak nationalities. At the commencement of the war, Russia promised autonomy for Poland. Ireland has got Home Rule. And Arabia has proclaimed its independence from Turkish control. Though the underlying causes of these changes are different, historians will probably regard the Arab independence as an indirect effect of the war. Turkish misrule and neglect was probably intensified by the events of the war and those who stand for liberty for all cannot but welcome the new regime in Arabia.
