ON another page will be found the substance of a communique which has just been issued by the Government of Bengal regarding the arrest under the Defence of India Act of two women, both named Sindhbala Dasi, in Bankura District. As our readers are aware, the arrest and detention of the two women made an extraordinary sensation in Bengal. Not only was the action, for which no explanation was forthcoming at the time, condemned by the Press, but recently a question was asked in the Council in regard to it. The Bengal Government have, therefore, done well in taking the public into confidence. The communiqué states the circumstances under which the two women were arrested. It appears that among the papers of a dangerous member of the revolutionary party, recently arrested in Calcutta, was found a paper bearing the name of Sindhubala.
