A Handsome Educational Endowment

Show comments

WE are informed that Babu Tulsi Datta of Calcutta has paid a sum of Rs. 17,000 out of the generous donation of Rs. 20,000 promised by him to fund a girls’ school at Calcutta to be run on the lines of the excellent institution for the education of girls, the Kanya Mahavidyalya, Jullundur, and under the control of the Managing Committee of that institution. The Jullundur institution has, thanks to the selfless and devoted labours of Lala Dev Raj and his colleagues, done a great work on national lines and has deservedly attained an India-wide reputation both through the solid and substantial work done in the imparting of useful instruction to girls and the ungrudging sacrifice and dedication to the cause of the education of girls of old alumni of the Vidyalya like the late Principal Pandita Savitri Devi and the present one, Panditta Lajjyavati.
