Maria Dolores Aveiro, the mother of Cristiano Ronaldo, has squashed rumours that she wanted her son to move back to Manchester United.

After Real Madrid won the Champions League final in May, Ronaldo had been linked to a possible return to Manchester United. It was reported that Aveiro wanted Ronaldo to play for United again were he to quit Real. However, Aveiro told media in Italy that she did not want him to return to United, which he left in 2009 after six seasons. “It’s a lie that I wanted him to return to Manchester United,” she said. “It’s not true.
