Tauranga (New Zealand), Jan 18

The Indian men’s hockey team failed to convert any of its four penalty corners and ended up losing 2-0 to Belgium in the four-nation tournament here today. While India created a lot of scoring chances but failed to convert, Belgium saw Sebastien Dockier (8th minute) and Victor Wegnez (34th) make the most of their opportunities.

Dockier’s tomahawk strike past PR Sreejesh put India on the back foot. But India fought back. In the 12th minute, Ramandeep Singh won the team its first PC, but India failed to even stop the first push. Seven minutes into the second quarter, India got their second PC. However, Harmanpreet Singh’s drag-flick was defended by Belgium’s first runner. — PTI
