London, November 13

Dominic Thiem produced a scintillating display of attacking tennis to beat Novak Djokovic and qualify for the last-4 at the ATP Finals on Tuesday, leaving the Serbian facing a shootout against Roger Federer.

In the standout match so far at London's O2 Arena, the Austrian fifth seed took the fight to the world No. 2, recovering from losing the first set to triumph 6-7(7) 6-3 7-6(7).

Federer and Djokovic will face-off tomorrow in a repeat of this year's Wimbledon final to determine who else will progress from Group Bjorn Borg.

Thiem was forced to play high-stakes tennis against the 16-time Grand Slam winner, taking the breath away with some of his inside-out forehands and single-handed backhands.

Nadal comes back to life

Rafael Nadal produced an incredible fightback to beat Russian Daniil Medvedev and keep his hopes alive today, saving a match point at 1-5 down in the decider before winning 6-7(3) 6-3 7-6(4).

The 33-year-old looked beaten as the 23-year-old debutant Medvedev broke serve twice in the decider to stand on the brink of a first career victory over the Spaniard he pushed to five sets in an epic US Open final in September. — Agencies

This was really one of those special matches, what I've practised all my life for, all my childhood. Really epic one, beating a legend of our game. And also I've qualified for the semifinals. It was a real classic which will happen from time to time at these big tournaments Dominic Thiem

I know that he can play in a high level, but tonight was just phenomenal. I mean, I was hitting really, really hard. It had everything that a match like this needs. He was up; I was up. He was playing amazing points; I was playing amazing points. It's only about luck Novak Djokovic
