New Delhi, June 28

A “disappointed” Ravi Shastri today hit out at Sourav Ganguly, saying the former India captain was “disrespectful” of the candidate he was interviewing and the job he was entrusted with.

Shastri criticised Ganguly for not being present during the former team director’s interview for head coach. “Not miffed at all. I am just disappointed. Nothing surprises me in cricket. It’s nothing to do with Sourav, but I am disappointed because that person was disrespectful of the candidate who was going to be interviewed and disrespectful of the job he was entrusted with,” Shastri said.

Asked what would be his advice to Ganguly, he said: “Next time be in the meeting when someone is being interviewed for such a top post”.

Kumble dismisses conflict of interest reports

Newly-appointed Indian team coach Anil Kumble has dismissed reports of conflict of interest between his new job and his involvement in a sports firm as well as heading the ICC Cricket Committee.

Kumble has involvement in a company called Tenvic, which is in the business of sports and consulting. “There is absolutely no conflict of interest. All things have been addressed,” Kumble said. “I see no reason why I cannot continue as the chairman of the ICC committee. There are other national coaches like Darren Lehmann on the committee,” he said. — PTI
