Rome, October 14

Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma rounded off the week with a 3-under 68 for a total of 9-under 275 to finish tied-7th at the Italian Open here. It was Sharma’s first top-10 finish outside India since the tied-sixth finish in Hong Kong more than 11 months ago.

India's other player in the field, SSP Chawrasia, shot his second 68 this week to finish at 1-over and tied-57th. Gaganjeet Bhullar missed the cut.

Bernd Wiesberger claimed his second Rolex Series title of 2019 and third European Tour win as he rallied from three shots behind overnight leader Matthew Fitzpatrick. The Austrian carded a bogey-free final round of 65 to finish one shot clear of the Englishman at 16-under.

Griffin holds on to win Houston Open by one stroke

Los Angeles: Six years ago, Lanto Griffin had less than $200 in his bank account, so he decided to caddie for his friend and fellow pro golfer Willy Wilcox. The move paid off as the pair became a successful team and Griffin was able to replenish his savings and continue his dream of playing full-time on the PGA Tour. Fast forward to Sunday as the 31-year-old Griffin claimed his maiden PGA title, two-putting 18 to close with a 3-under 69 and win the Houston Open by one stroke.

Griffin told his mother that he would buy her a new car if he won this week — and after earning $1.3 million in first-place prize money, he will make good on that promise. — Agencies
