Sethu FC recorded a 3-0 win over Bangalore United FC in the 3rd Hero Indian Women’s League at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Sethu’s Nepali strikers Sabitra Bhandari and Anita Basnet scored one goal each, netting the first and the third goals for their team. However, it was India international Sandhiya who earned the Player of the Match award for her brilliant display in the wings and a first-half goal.

Sethu were dominant from the word go, with Sabitra continuing her brilliant form to score the first goal in the 11th minute. This strike took Sabitra to the top of the goalscorers’ chart, with five goals from two games.

With a few minutes of the first half left, Sandhiya got on to the act as she finished a smooth move by her team.

Sethu scored in the second half too when substitute Anita Basnet  latched to a rebound, sold a dummy to a defender and rounded Bangalore keeper Crystal Ann to put the ball into the goal.

Manipuri Police Sports Club beat Sports Authority of India Training Centre (Cuttack) 10-0 in a one-sided match. Manipur Police were clearly eager to bounce back after their defeat to Sethu FC.

Ngangom Bala Devi pumped in seven goals.
