Rashid spins Afghanistan to victory over UAE

HARARE: Rashid Khan took a big leap towards becoming the fastest bowler to 100 ODI wickets when he grabbed his fourth five-wicket haul as Afghanistan overcame a top-order batting collapse to prevail over the United Arab Emirates in a Super Six fixture of the ICC World Cup Qualifier here on Tuesday.

England women defeat India A by 6 wickets

England’s women notched up their second successive win as they comprehensively thrashed India A by six wickets in their warm-up T20 game. After restricting India A to a paltry 85/9, the England women overhauled the target and went on to post 210/4 as they batted on for the entire 20 overs. It was left-arm medium pacer Katie George (4/6) who wrecked the home batting after they chose to bat. Brief Scores: India A: 85/9 (Vanitha VR 40, Katie George 4/6); England: 210/4 (Natalie Sciver 54, Shannti Kumari 2/34).

Advani wins second match in Asian Billiards C’ship 

Pankaj Advani won his second round-robin match 4-1 against Myanmar’s Pauk Sa at the 17th Asian Billiards Championship here on Tuesday. In the women’s Asian Snooker Championship, Vidya Pillai won her second match with a 2-1 scoreline against Iran’s Akram Mohammadi. Amee Kamani defeated Iran’s Parisa Darvishvand 2-0, while Varshaa Sanjeev beat 2-0 against Indonesian Riny Astuty Nasution. In the under-21 category, Shoaib Khan beat Ching Chiu Poon of Hong Kong 4-2 in the snooker league match.

Yuki advances in Miami qualifiers, Ramkumar out

Yuki Bhambri beat Argentina’s Renzo Olivo in straight sets to move into the final round of the ATP Miami Masters qualifiers, but Ramkumar Ramanathan was ousted from the high-profile tournament. Bhambri eased past Olivo 6-4 6-1. He next faces world No. 133 Elias Ymer of Sweden. However, Ramanathan fell in the first round, losing 6-7(4) 4-6 to Michael Mmoh. — Agencies
