Punjab Marshalls registered their third consecutive win, second on home turf, in the Champions Tennis League.
In their last home game, Punjab Marshalls produced another spellbinding performance to defeat Mumbai Masters 4-1 ( 24-13). Punjab made a dream start, taking a 3-0 lead. In the legends’ tie, Mumbai’s Richard Krajicek and Punjab’s Greg Rusedski had a seesaw battle till 3-3. However, Rusedski broke serve to make it 4-3 and then held his own.
In the next match, Mumbai’s Flavia Pennetta proved no match for Elina Svitolina, losing 5-2. In the mixed doubles, Svitolina and Marcos Baghdatis thrashed Pennetta and Santiago Giraldo 5-0.
Mumbai Masters fought back in the men’s doubles, Sriram Balaji and Giraldo defeating Saketh Myneni and Baghdatis 5-4. Baghdatis, however, wrapped up the tie, beating Giraldo 5-4.
