Punia enters final

CHANDIGARH: Jhajjar grappler Deepak Punia (86kg) has assured India of at least a silver medal in the junior World Wrestling Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. Punia defeated Miriani Maisuradze of Georgia 3-2 in the semifinals.

Jhajjar grappler Deepak Punia (86kg) has assured India of at least a silver medal in the junior World Wrestling Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. Punia defeated Miriani Maisuradze of Georgia 3-2 in the semifinals. He will take on Alik Shebzukhov of Russia in the final. Punia defeated Hunter Jeffery Lee of Canada 5-1 in the quarterfinals. 

Ravinder (61kg), Parveen Malik (74kg) and Viky (92kg) have progressed to the repechage rounds.

Vijay Bajirao Patil (57kg) lost to Akhmed Idrisov of Russia 0-10 in the bronze-medal bout. Akash Antil (97kg) lost to Makhsud Veysalov of Uzbekistan 3-9 in the bronze medal bout. Ryo Yonezawa of Japan beat Vishal Kaliramana (70kg) 3-2 in the pre-quarterfinals. In the 79kg category, Sandeep Singh Mann lost to Milan Mester 0-2 in the quarterfinals. Vishal lost to Alen Khubulov of Russia 0-11 in the 125kg quarterfinals.
