Powar re-applies for the post of women team’s coach

Ramesh Powar, whose controversial tenure as the national women's cricket team coach ended on November 30, on Tuesday reapplied for the job after receiving strong support from T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur and her deputy Smriti Mandhana.

Ramesh Powar, whose controversial tenure as the national women's cricket team coach ended on November 30, on Tuesday reapplied for the job after receiving strong support from T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur and her deputy Smriti Mandhana.  “Yes, I have applied this evening because Smriti, Harmanpreet have supported me and I can’t let them down by not applying,” said Powar.

Brilliant Hope levels series for West Indies    

Shai Hope smashed a brilliant century as West Indies edged Bangladesh by four wickets in the second ODI to level the three-match series 1-1 in Dhaka on Tuesday. Opener Hope hit an unbeaten 146 off 144 balls, guiding West Indies to 256/6 in 49.4 overs after the visitors relied on three wickets from paceman Oshane Thomas to restrict Bangladesh to 255/7 in 50 overs.

ISL: Pune register 2-0 win against Goa 

FC Pune City produced a spirited display to register a 2-0 win over FC Goa in an Indian Super League clash here on Tuesday. A terrific strike from Marcelinho in the 74th minute and a late penalty from Marko Stankovic separated the two sides. With only one point from three previous games, FC Goa’s struggles continued and they find themselves in the fourth spot with 17 points.

Punjab's Kaul, Anmolpreet star, India A sweep series

Punjab teammates Anmolpreet Singh and Siddarth Kaul led India A to a 3-0 whitewash of New Zealand after a 75-run victory in the third and final unofficial ODI here on Tuesday. Anmolpreet struck 71 off 80 balls at the top of the order to help India A post 275/8 in 50 overs.  In reply, New Zealand A never got going and folded up for 200 in 44.2 overs. Kaul was India A’s standout bowler, ending with figures of 4/37 in seven overs. Brief scores: India A 275 /8 (Anmolpreet 71, Bawne 48; Rance 3/49); NZ A 200 all out (Seifert 55; Kaul 4/37)

Everton defender Lucas Digne scored with a superb free kick deep into added time to salvage a 2-2 draw against Watford in a frenetic Premier League clash on Monday. Richarlison had given the home side an early lead before Watford made it 2-1 with two goals in three minutes just past the hour mark, Seamus Coleman scoring an own goal and Abdoulaye Doucoure powering home a header.
