Amritsar, December 17

The Pakistan men completed the semifinals line-up with a thumping win over Argentina as the league stage came to end in the 5th World Kabaddi Cup at Mehta today.
Pakistan join India, Iran and England, who beat Denmark 44-21 today, in the last four. In the women’s section, India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Denmark have made their way to the semifinals.
The Argentinean men seemed no match for the robust Pakistanis. Pakistan had already scored nine points before Argentina could manage to get their first point and the one-sided affair finally ended 45-20 in Pakistan’s favour.
A two-minute silence was observed for the victims of the Peshawar terror attack. The Pakistan players wore black arm bands.
In the women’s section, Denmark beat USA 44-32, while England registered their maiden victory of the tournament, beating Mexico 42-38.
Heavy fog and low temperatures made the conditions difficult. The spectators were seen shivering, while the duration of some of the matches was shortened due to the cold.
