Out-of-turn promotions for Railways women

Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu today announced out-of-turn promotions for the women cricketers of the World Cup squad who are employed with the Railways.  There are ten girls from the Railways in the 15-member Indian team, including captain Mithali Raj and vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur.

Besides out-of-turn promotions, there will be cash awards, too. “The Railways Minister has conveyed his best wishes to the Indian team. He has announced out-of-turn promotions to the Railways’ women cricketers who are part of the World Cup squad,” said Rekha Yadav, ED/Sports and secretary of the Railway Sports Promotion Board. “There will be cash awards too as per our existing policy.” Apart from Mithali and Harmanpreet, others girls associated with the Railways are Ekta Bisht, Punam Raut, Veda Krishnamurthy, Poonam Yadav, Sushma Verma, Mona Mesharm, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Nuzhat Parween. — PTI
