Cromwell (US), June 24

Anirban Lahiri fired his career-best round on the PGA, a stunning 7-under 63 to climb more than 90 places in the 2017 Travelers golf Championship.

The 29-year-old, who shot 73 in the first round, improved by 10 shots and at 4-under 136, he was tied-17th, after being 108th at the end of the first round. The lead stayed with Jordan Spieth, who scrambled to 1-under 69 and watched as a windy afternoon kept anyone from overtaking him. Spieth was one clear of Troy Merritt (65-68) and Patrick Reed (67-66) at tied-2nd as wind gusts exceeded 20 mph. Lahiri’s 63 included five birdies and an eagle, which he holed from 32 feet. It was the best round of the day and also his best on PGA Tour.

Aditi makes a modest start in Arkansas

Rogers (USA): Aditi Ashok opened with a modest 1-under 70 to be placed tied-53rd after the opening round of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Aditi had four birdies against three birdies in the first round. She had two birdies at the 10th and 14th holes with a bogey sandwiched between them at the 13th hole. She is seven shots behind another rookie Sung Hyun Park (63).

Jeev Milkha Singh exited early with rounds of 76 and 78. Joakim Lagergren (69-66) and Joel Stalter (67-68) led the way at the halfway stage but Sergio Garcia (66-70) and Henrik Stenson (67-69) were right in the mix on a congested leaderboard. — Agencies
