Karnataka rout Mumbai, storm into semis

Karnataka stormed into the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy after inflicting an innings and 20-run defeat on Mumbai with more than a day to spare in the quarterfinals here today. After taking a huge 397-run lead in the first innings, Karnataka bowled out the 41-time champions for 377 in their second innings for a comprehensive win. For Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav made a defiant 108, with 16 fours and a six, before he was run out in the first session today, opening the doors for Karnataka to go for the kill. 

Karnataka captain Vinay Kumar, who bagged a hat-trick in his six-wicket haul in the first innings, picked two crucial wickets of captain Aditya Tare (0) Siddhesh Lad (31) to bolster Karnataka's push for victory. Debutant Shivam Dube put up some resistance towards the end by smashing a brisk 71 off 91 balls but he could only delay the inevitable.

Delhi on course for win 

Vijayawada:  Bowlers put Delhi on course for a memorable win by bowling out Madhya Pradesh for 283 in their second innings, leaving their batsmen with a rather easy target of 217 runs to achieve on the final day of the contest. — Agencies
