Three siblings from Himachal Pradesh have created a record of sorts by winning four medals in the 7th mini sub-junior National Archery Championship held at Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh. Hailing from Kandaghat area of Solan district, the siblings — Khushbu Dhayal, 13, and twins Divya and Digvijay Dhayal, 12, — won three silver and a bronze medal in the compound category. Khushbu won a silver medal in the 50 metre category, and then a bronze medal by defeating the last year’s champion, Jyostna of Andhra Pradesh. The elated archers said their father Lt Col Vikram Dhayal, who himself is a national-level archer and a coach, had been training them.

The trio attributed their success to a strict and disciplined training regimen. They have now set their sights on the sub-junior championship, scheduled for next month at Tatanagar, Jharkhand.
