ISL: Chennaiyin stun toppers Bengaluru 2-1

Chennai: Defending champions Chennaiyin FC notched up a 2-1 win over table-toppers Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League. It was Chennaiyin’s second victory of the season.

Last year’s runners-up Bengaluru remain on top with 31 points from 15 matches. Chennaiyin are at the bottom with eight points from 15 games.

Goals by Jeje Lalpekhlua (32nd minute) and Gregory Nelson (42nd) gave Chennaiyin a 2-0 lead going into the halftime. The second half, though, was far from comfortable for the hosts. Despite a strong fightback from Bengaluru, with a goal from Sunil Chhetri (57th), Chennaiyin held on tenaciously to snap their five-match losing streak.
